Exercising during pregnancy and postpartum requires specialized knowledge and focused attention to ensure safety of the mother and baby. Pietra Fitness partnered with both a physical therapist from Australia and the U.S. to create a curriculum that is both comprehensive and thorough. Our Perinatal Certification program will provide you with a higher-quality education and advanced skills specific to prenatal & postpartum exercise prescription.
Pre-requisite: Must be a certified Pietra Fitness Instructor for at least 6 mos., and actively teaching classes and participating in the instructor community.
Benefits and risks of prenatal and postnatal exercise, physiological changes/conditions of pregnancy, exercise guidelines for both prenatal and postnatal participants, stages of pregnancy and what to expect in each stage, breathing during prenatal classes, how to protect and train the pelvic floor, abdominal bracing, basics of prenatal and postnatal nutrition, the seated, standing, prone, side, and supine poses used in prenatal and postnatal classes, effects of pregnancy on the abdominal wall, postnatal factors, and relaxation for perinatal participants.
You must be a certified Pietra Fitness Instructor for at least 6 months and actively teaching classes and participating in the instructor community in order to take the Perinatal Certification.
